About me

On January 6 1990 I arrived at JFK International Airport with a couple of suitcases and a few hundred dollars that my family in Greece was able to provide me with. “The plan” was to finish my education and return back to Athens where I would most likely have to get a job in the public sector or with one of the local banks.

Over the next three decades reality diverged from “the plan” and today I am able to share my views on investing in financial sector stocks on this site which is titled Compound Interest which is the one concept I personally consider to be the foundation of every investment strategy, asset valuation, or financial plan.

I focus on the financial sector because it is the only sector I have worked in full-time since the early 1990s and has been my investment focus in the last 20-plus years.

Since joining the industry as an intern at M.D. Sass, while still a graduate Economics student at Baruch College, I have had the privilege to work for a number of well known organizations such as PaineWebber, UBS, Standard & Poor’s, Morgan Keegan, Citigroup, Advent Capital Management, Ariel Investments (consultant), and PSP Investments, most recently.

Who I am, what I know, and what I can share with readers on this site represents the accumulation of my experiences at the aforementioned organizations while fulfilling my mandates, everything I have learned through readings and probably more importantly the lessons learned from investing and growing my personal wealth since I bought my first stock in the Summer of 2001.

I hope you find the content of this site useful and I look forward to your feedback over time.
